Nonetheless, Christians, who want to offer their lives to God at the Altar of our faith.  The name is inspired by Abraham’s narrative, and just as Abraham set up altars throughout the Promised Land, we want to offer up our music each and every time we play.  We also hope the message conveyed through this music helps bring change in ours and other people’s lives and thus help alter the course of lives to Jesus’ way. Altaer is the expression of our physical and spiritual journey towards this change.

Connections

Band members:
Matteo Depares – Lead Vocals and Rhythm Guitar

Kenneth Barbara – Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals

Warren J. Borg – Keyboards

Karl Schembri – Drums, Keyboards and Backing Vocals

As a christian rock band we are proud to make part of the youth group Connections, which can be found in St. Julian’s Parish. We are a group of four youths who love music and would like to use it as a tool of worship. Since Matteo and Kenneth were 14 they used to practice alone with a guitar and a piano. After various events and youth masses they decided to add Warren, a friend on keyboards and also another friend Karl on drums and keyboards. Since most of us know how to sing and also know how to play more than one instrument it is very easy for us to change roles in the band. As a band we would like to be able to organise youth masses and to play in other large youth events. We are now also in the process of writing our own original material. Apart from christian rock we also like to have fun and play other music such as classic rock and soft rock.

Footprints

Band members:
Jurgen Scicluna – Vocals and Keyboards

Hilary Spiteri – Guitars and Backing Vocals

Keith Scicluna – Bass Guitars

Ivan Cassar – Drums and Percussion

Bernard Catania – Guitars

Footprints was formed way back in 2000 by four young friends residing in the same neighbourhood and keen to share their love for music.  It did not take long for the band members to start writing their own original material.  A couple of years later, the band decided to go for a new, up and coming music genre, that is, Christian Rock.  Footprints felt the need to profess their faith through music and to pass on a positive message through their songs wherever they went.

The band’s line-up evolved through the passing of time but the core founding members have kept together through thick and thin.  Throughout the years, the band has been invited to play in various parish churches, youth gatherings and events in Malta with the sole aim of animating the liturgy and providing the right environment for prayer and worship.  In 2006 and 2007, Footprints took part in the KDZ World Youth Day Song Contest and the band was awarded for best lyrics in both contests.  The two songs entitled ‘Triq is-Salvazzjoni’ and ‘Qawwa Mdawla’ were included in the awakening asaph compilation.

Furthermore, 2008 has been a very good year for the band.  Apart from taking part in the XFM virtual rockstar competition with the song ‘Abba Father’, Footprints also released its first single entitled ‘Red Lines’ which was included in the Malta Rocks compilation.  The band is also working on its new song ‘The Gift of Life’ which speaks about the rights of the unborn child and society’s need to protect life from the very beginning.  It will be released shortly in the local market together with other new musical material that will help Footprints pass on its christian message to today’s generation.

Immediate Denial

Band members:
Mike – Vocals/Guitar
Edwina – Violin

It’s a coast to coast ride of crossover genre and multi-culture musical chops, Immediate Denial is the east meets west side story. A mixture of heavy/hair metal, pop, hard rock, punk, classical music and Nordic/Irish ambience fuse the musical skills of the current line-up: Mike on vocal and guitar and Edwina for violin and keyboards. Their music cannot be taken lightly. With sweet overtones and broken chords, it is the kind of music missed by parched souls of the anthemic rock generation who likes ballads in the 90′s. Log on to

The Prophecy

Band members:
Margherita – Vocals

Nicholai – Keyboards

Aaron – Drums and Percussion

Edward – Guitars

Jean Paul – Guitars

David – Bass Guitars

Our band was originally set with the specific purpose of playing music in a mass organised for teenagers. At that time we used to listen to a lot of pop and “classic rock” music. In time we realised that there was much more meaning in the lyrics of the worship songs we were playing. Later on we discovered another genre. This was a genre which involved a strong Christian message and often a prayer. This made us realise that one may have to travel a long journey between realizing the “relevance” of God in his life and feeling the urge to actually worship God.  Thus our dream is to be able to reach people our age and perhaps through the music we play, make them feel loved by God.

Unspoken

Band members:
Rebecca, Michela – Main Vocals

Michela, Daniela, Marilyn – Backing Vocals

Jeanette – Rhythm Guitar

Cassandra – Lead Guitar

Gabriel – Bass Guitar

Melchior – Drums/Percussion

Unspoken is proud to be Ibrag’s one and only Christian Rock Band.
Since debuting in 2007 in their first gig in front of the Ibrag Church, the band has become more well known and sought out by the parish. Unspoken is comprised of 8 members, who meet on a weekly basis to rehearse Christian Rock songs that have strong messages on what we believe in and how we look at our faith. Today Unspoken play during the Sunday 9:45 Mass, and all other feasts, including the Christmas and Easter Masses.

The band’s present pre-occupation is working on a series of rock masses, with the next one to be organised on the 25th June 2009. This will be Unspoken’s fourth Rock Mass, and all previous ones have been a rewarding success, where both band and congregation enjoyed the events. The band fill the Mass with a mix of American Christian Rock covers from Christian Rock band Hillsong United and a few inventions of their own. The purpose of holding such Rock Masses is to encourage youths to participate in and enjoy Mass, decreasing the risk of Maltese youngsters losing their faith.

Whilst rehearsing for the next rock mass, Unspoken continue to improve their standards from amateur to a more professional sound. This means taking on edgier songs of more musical class, taking their musical vocation more seriously, to overall, profess their love for God through their music and performance.
